In a world that often pulls us in a million different directions, the faith-based woman who is also an entrepreneur and a devoted family member might feel like she's walking a tightrope. The demands can be significant, and the quest for balance can seem elusive. But take heart, dear sister, for within your faith and the timeless wisdom of scripture lies a sturdy foundation upon which you can build a fulfilling and impactful life. Trust me I totally understand; I live in this moment every day with managing life, family, managing multiple businesses and caring for an elderly parent and running around with my 4 year old grandson - LIFE BE LIFING!

Finding Our Anchor in Faith

Our journey begins and is sustained by our relationship with God. It's the anchor that keeps us steady amidst the storms and the compass that guides our decisions. As Proverbs 3:5-6 beautifully reminds us: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit  to him, and he will make your paths straight."

This isn't a passive trust, but an active surrender, a daily choice to seek His guidance in our businesses, our homes, and our personal lives. When we prioritize our spiritual connection, we gain clarity, strength, and a perspective that transcends the immediate pressures.

Recently, God laid it on my heart to rededicate my life to Him with greater intention. My relationship with Him has been deeply impacted, especially through the journey of growth alongside "Plans of the Righteous." This led to a powerful desire for rebaptism, and I knew the beach, my tranquil haven, was the perfect setting. It was an incredible experience as around ten women and I were baptized or rebaptized, each of us intentionally choosing to re-surrender our lives to God purposefully.

The Heart of the Home and the Call of the Marketplace

Many faith-based women feel a deep calling to nurture their families and also a stirring to build and create in the marketplace. These callings are not mutually exclusive! Ultimately, this could mean different things for everyone: for some, it's about building a powerful empire, while for others, it's about creating a sustainable system that leaves a legacy for those who come after. The Proverbs 31 woman, often held up as an example, was a woman of enterprise and domestic strength. Scripture tells us: "She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks." (Proverbs 31:13-17).

This passage reveals a woman who was both industrious and deeply involved in the well-being of her household. Her strength came not from neglecting one area for the other, but from her diligence and, we can infer, her reliance on God's strength.

Facts to Encourage:

  • Women are a growing force in entrepreneurship: According to recent statistics, women are starting businesses at a higher rate than ever before. This demonstrates the inherent creativity and drive within women.
  • Faith-based businesses often have a strong ethical foundation: Integrating faith into business practices can lead to greater integrity, customer loyalty, and a sense of purpose beyond profit.
  • Strong families provide a powerful support system: A loving and supportive family can be a significant source of encouragement and strength for a woman juggling multiple roles.

Words of Wisdom:

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

This powerful scripture reminds us that God has a purpose for our lives, encompassing all aspects of who we are. Our entrepreneurial spirit and our desire for a thriving family are not afterthoughts but can be integral parts of His plan.

Proven Strategies for Balance from "Plans of the Righteous" by Cynthia L. Robinson:

Drawing from the wisdom shared in "Plans of the Righteous," here are some practical strategies to help you navigate the beautiful complexities of your life:

  1. Prioritize with Purpose: I emphasize the importance of aligning your daily tasks with your God-given priorities. This means prayerfully discerning what truly matters in each season and focusing your energy there. Don't get caught in the trap of trying to do everything at once. As Matthew 6:33 advises, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

  2. Time Stewardship, Not Just Management: It's not just about fitting more into your day, but about stewarding the time God has given you wisely. I encourage you to create realistic schedules, batching similar tasks, and learning to say "NO" to commitments that don't align with your core values and priorities. Remember Ephesians 5:15-16: "Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil."

  3. Intentional Family Connection: Balancing entrepreneurship and family requires intentionality. I strongly highlight the importance of carving out dedicated, quality time with your loved ones. This could mean setting specific "family time" blocks, being fully present during meals, or establishing meaningful traditions. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 reminds us to "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

  4. Embrace Imperfection and Grace: The pursuit of perfect balance is often a myth. There was a time that I sought perfection; but I am over that now. I encourage women to extend grace to themselves and others. There will be days when one area demands more attention than another. It's about progress, not perfection. Remember the truth of Romans 8:1: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Extend that same grace to yourself.

  5. Build a Supportive Community: No one is meant to walk this journey alone. So often women feel like when they are going through they have to pull back from being around the like minded faith-based sister's that have supported them. Value those connections with other faith-based women who understand the unique challenges and joys of balancing faith, family, and entrepreneurship. Resist the urge to isolate. Please, continue to be present. Your dedication to the things you value deeply mirrors the dedication you give to your own well-being. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us to "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
